Pin Parbati trek-Spiti Excursion and Remote Kinnaur trek

PIN PARVATI  AND SPITI TO LADAKH

Few high passages across the main Himalayas spine provide the variety and rewards of high level trek as does the Pin Parvati, connecting the tributary of the Beas which it joins near the Bhunter and the Pin which flows into Spiti. With extreme difference in climate, Pin valley is much more rugged and barren than the Parvati valley. This cold desert valley with its snowy crags, cliff and crevasses, jagged rocks and other fossils make Pin valley a unique geological lab. Winter plays havoc here as ferocious blizzards and snowstorms send the glaciers cracking, ravaging the valleys rugged moonscape. But its long rain free summer is a prime time for the adventurers to see Spitis wild life in motion when the predatory snow leopard, red fox, marten, weasel, Himalayan Pika, bearded vulture, golden eagle, lynx and Tibetan wolf roam in the park (area is conserved as a national park 1987) Second part of trek in Ladakh Rupshu Changthang region.  Most attraction in Changthang is Nomads, Karzok, and Tsomoriri lake.

Tso-Moriri is a huge mountain lake in the South East Ladakh, in the Rupshu -Chang-Thang Plateau.. Karzok village (4'650 m) is situated on the South West bank of this lake and its the worlds highest inhabited village. Its inhabitant’s nomads known as CHANGPAS, who lives in Robos (Tent made from Yak wool) looking after their flocks of sheep

Setting off from Barshaini near Manikaran on our 19 days trek we. We start with 2 days through thick Alpine forest, for pleasure we will have an  open air natural  hot sulphur bath at Khir Ganga - a great significant place for the  Indian Sadhu (Saint). Progressively at first through dense alpine forest , followed by bushes, lakes, wild flower, pasture, peaks with long glacier, beginning to North lunar landscapes, sky rocketing peaks that illuminate the valley in dazzling hues of white, gray, green and golden yellow with the rising sun. Pin valley promises lingering pictures of starkness and rugged beauty of the Himalayan Cold Desert.

Further crossing natural  rock bridge at Pandu  we arrive at Mantalai  lake - a famous Hindu pilgrimage. At top of Pin Parvati 5319 mtrs we will have panoramic view of numerous peaks: Parvati South, Parvati North, Pinnacle, Kullu Eiger more than 6`000 mtrs. The pass itself is a transition zone between 2 different world.

The first part of trek ends at the small picturesque village of Gulling, surrounded by lovely barley fields.

Some part of the trip is in Spiti valley, visiting the ancient villages and gompas of  Kee, Dankhar, Lalung, Tabo, Kungri and Langza. Some of these monasteries are more then 1000 years old. Tabo monastery built by Rinchen Zangpo in 996 A.D. is also known as "the Ajanta of the Himalayas". Second part of our trek starts from Kee monastery. We first trek up to 2 isolated villages of Gete and Tashi Gang and descend down to Kibber. From Kibber  (4250m), we walk 500 m down to the Parilungbi gorge. Stepping over the moraine stretches, crevasses and glaciers, we climb to the mighty pass of Parang-la (5450m). Following the Pare Chu, which flows towards South to the Tibet frontier near Chumar village and again enters in Spiti valley, well arrive at the lake, beyond your imagination and expectation; called Tso-Morari.
