Kibber - Parang la pass
- Korzok - Tsokar 14 Days Spiti to Ladakh
Kibber to Tsomoriri via Parang la pass takes 8 days and trail goes
along the Pare Chu River. Tso-Moriri is a huge mountain lake in the South East of Ladakh, in the Rupshu (Chang-Thang Plateau,
geographically- a part of Tibetan plateau) region. Karzok village (4'650 m) is situated on the South West bank of this Lake
and it’s the world’s highest inhabited village. Karzok and its inhabitants are called Changpa nomad, who lives
in Robos (Tent made from Yak wool) during summer looking after their flocks of sheep. An isolated, wonderful, less traveled
trek far in the mountains of Ladakh and Great Himalayan ranges. The first part of the trekking tour is in Spiti valley, visiting
the ancient villages and monasteries like: Kee, Dankhar, Lalung, Tabo, Kungri and Langza. Some of these monasteries are more
than 1000 years old. Tabo built by Rinchen Zangpo in 996 A.D. is also known as "the Ajanta of the Himalayas". Starting of
our trek from Kibber (4250m), we walk 500 m down to the Parilungbi gorge. Stepping over the moraine stretches, crevasses and
glaciers, we climb to the mighty pass of Parang-la pass (5570m). Following the Pare Chu, which flows towards South to the
Tibet frontier near Chumar village and again enters in Spiti valley, well arrive at the lake, beyond your imagination and
expectation; called Tso-Morari

Parang la trek and Reviews
“I have completed the Parang la
trek from Karzok to Kibber and Kanamo peak from 08 Aug. 2011 to 20 Aug. 2011 organized by Potala Adventurers, with leading
Guide Umesh and assistant Guide Ravinder. They are professional, experience, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Umesh has
assisted me several times on the river crossings and willing to wait for me, as I am always walking slowly. With no complaints,
and also give me support with encouragement on passing the Parang la pass (5450m) and on the Kanamo peak and give full support
on during the road blocking on the Batal – Chatru. He also shared with me of his climbing experience and others about
the regional history & culture to make the trip interesting. Ravinder served as assistant guide but also acted as cook
on the trek. He has done a good job on cooking includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. I like much of his fried
rice and noodles, potato chips and mixed veg. He also cleans up campsite area and burnoff the garbage before leaving, in support
of the eco-tourism.
I also like to thank you Tenzin Ningbo to secure me the bus ticket New Del / Manali
