Dzo Jongo 6200m - 14 Days
The Kang Yatse and Dzo Jongo ( 6400 & 6200 m) located in
the Markha valley region of Ladakh. Dzo Jongo is delight of trekkers as it doesnt required technical climbing, while Kang
Yatse required some technical skill to be on top.
The Kang Yatse II 6175 m and Dzo Jongo 6200 m located at the East end
of the Markha valley region of Ladakh just above Nimaling plains. The Kang Gyatse peak is most dominant peak in Markha valley.
The lower western Peak of Dzo Jongo is easier (Alpine PD - Peu Difficile) and more frequently climbed. The main summit
of Kang Gyatse I required some technical ability. Dzo Jongo is delight of trekkers as it doesnt required any technical climbing.
If you are seeking for first Himalayan 6000m peak and away from the crowd that you may see in Stok Kangri peak. This side
of Markha remain calm most of the time.
We start our excellent trek from Chilling after visiting ancient village of Alchi. Crossing Zanskar
River and entering into Markha valley. We trek along the Markha river enroute we pass through barley
fields, beautiful villages, and experiencing daily life of Ladakh people. We climb to an open pasture of Nimaling, and
climb gradually to the base camp. With a panoramic view finally ascending to the peak of Dzo Jongo
6200m. On a clear sky the view goes upto K2 and Karakorum range peaks. Finally we cross pass of kongmaru la and descend
down to Shang pho. We visit great monastery of Hemis and to Leh.

OUTLINE TRIP ITINERARY
- Flight Delhi (230m)- Leh, acclimatise day 1, visit local market, Shanti Stupa, Samkar, Leh palace.
Day 2 - Leh acclimatise day 2 - visit Likir – Alchi – Lamayuru
Day 3 - Trek to Skiu (3290m).
Day 4 - Trek to Markha (3710m), 6 -7 hrs.
Day 5 - Trek to Hankar (3900m) – Thachungtse (4200m), 5 hrs
Day 6 - Trek to Base camp (5000m)
Day 7 - Rest at base camp
8 - Climb Dzo Jongo 6200m- back to base camp
9 - Reserve day
Day 10 -
Trek to Nimaling
Day 11 - Trek to Kongmaru
La (5150m) - Chuskirmo
Day 12 - Trek to Shang
Sumdo (3660m), Drive to Hemis, Thiksey – Shey - Stok - Leh.
13 - Leh
Day 14 - Flight
Leh - Delhi. Onward flight back to home
