Day 01: Arrive at New Delhi (239m).
Arrival at New Delhi IGI airport, drive to hotel.
Day 02: Drive New Delhi – Manali (1940m).
We drive to Manali by luxury coach by overnight drive duration of 14 hrs to Manali, leaving New Delhi by 16:30
– 17:00 hrs or fly New Delhi domestic airport to Kullu Manali airport at Bhunter 1:30 hrs of fly. It’s a 50 kms
from airport to Manali.
Day 03: Manali: Acclimatize.
Arrive at Manali by 10:00 hrs morning, if travelling by deluxe night bus, or arrival at Kullu – Manali
airport 09:00 hrs morning. Visit local market afternoon and or short sight-seeing
trips in around Manali, overnight hotel.
Day 04: Drive Manali – Rohtang pass 3978m– Keylong (3100m)
- Jispa (330m). Acclimatize. 6-7 hrs.
Today an early departure from Manali, we drive 3 hours
to Rohtang pass (3,978mt.) on a magnificent route. Rohtang La is also a
get way to Lahoul & Spiti, Pangi and Zanskar. We continue along the Chandra river to Tandi. Where Chandra and Bhaga join
together to form Chenab river. We pass through Keylong in Ghar valley and upto Jispa in Tod valley for overnight camp.
Day 05: Drive to Darcha - Patseo - Baralacha la (4890m) – Kelang
Serai (4500m) 5-6 hrs.
Today after breakfast leaving behind Jispa we drive to Darcha 6 kms, a police check post and enregistering
details we continue along the Bhaga river to Patseo and finally climb to Baralacha la pass, which is 7 km long gives the source
of three rivers - Chandra through South, Bhaga through upper Lahoul and Yunam towards Zanskar. A splendid view of M-4 (6514m),
which is the highest in the Moulkila range, can be seen from the trail as well as of Keorang range of Great Himalayas. On
the pass, we join the main highway. Crossing Baralacha la pass we continue along the Yunam River untill Kelang Serai.
Day 06: Trek to Debni (4400m) 5/6 hrs.
The trail now narrows down and a river crossing is made. After this the terrain becomes more and more barren,
the landscape attaining fantastic forms and hues. Gradually the trail becomes Steeper as it leads towards the (5’450m)
high Phirtse-la. Following upward on the right bank of Lingti Chu River arrive at the campsite of Debni.
Day 07: Trek to Chumik Marpo (4650m)
An early start is recommended due to the crossing of Khamerup stream. After about 2 ½ hours you arrive at
a broad river of Khamerup, cross it, this originates from the glacier of Phirtse-la crossing small Phirtse-la, where extensive
views are a delight.
Day 08: Trek to Phirtse la (5450m) – Zingchen
An early start to avoid the snow turning softens the Phirtse la is advised. Leaving
campsite after half an hour we cross-grassy flat land, now after crossing a wide steep slope on a ride, descent to stream.
Go up the opposite slope and reach Phirtse-la (5’450m.). There is a steep descent on uneven ground with patches of ice
and at the base of the slope. Now trail enters in the phirtse Chu valley, 2 hours walking in the valley arrive at the campsite
Day 09: Trek to Tanze (4000m)
The path leads away from the river, gradually up the slope, first view of rocky escarpment. Further on a pass
with cairn and pasture. A spectacular view of Zanskar valley and arrive at the
first village after Darcha. By passing behind a rocky bridge follow steep gorge. Cross a stream. Then we arrive at Tanze village,
monastery in ruins a bit higher up, overnight camp in Tanze.
Day 10: Trek to Purne (3800m)
A short distance beyond Tanze, there is a small bridge across to the left bank. Slight rise leading to Kuru
village. Arrival in Testa beautifull village the path continues downwards near the river. We now walk along the left bank,
and then climb to Yal. Crossing Tal village we descent towards a bridge, which we cross to reach Purne for overnight halt.
Day 11: Purne – Phuktal 3850m. – Purne
Today a great day to visit one of the fantastic sight of Zanskar. We follow the trek towards Phuktal along
the left bank of Tsarap River. We cross the river by bridge and trail goes along the right bank of river. We will have first
impressive view of Phuktal by climbing short ridge. The most spectacular sight in Zanskar region and of course our trekking
tour. Main temple built inside huge cave and rest of monastery houses built on rock cliff. The monastery was founded by Changsems
Sherab Zangpo. We visit this great monastery and retrace back to campsite at Purne.
Day 12: Purne – Kargyak 4050m, 7/8 hrs.
Today early departure as we trek long to Kargyak village, we trek back to same bridge that we have cross a
2 days before. We climb gently to Yal village. We pass beautiful village of Testa 3900m and Karu. We cross the river just
before Tangtse village. Continue to trek along the right bank of Kargyak River we arrive at Kargyak village. one of the highest
villages in Zanskar region.
Day 13: Kargyak – Lakhong 4450m, 5 hrs.
Today leaving Kargyak village behind we trek on a well-defined trail to Gomburangjom peak. An impressive summit
along the trail is magnificent. The valley ends and the doksa of Kargyak people can be seen as dotted on terrain. It is lovely
high pasture land for yaks, dzo and sheep. We cross the stream and camp at Lakhong.
Day 14: Lakhong – Ramjak 4300m or Zanskar Sumdo (3860m). 7-8
Today we climb towards Shingo la pass or Shinkun la 5100m., the 2nd highest point of our trek.
Right after camp we climb gently on high pasture terrain to base camp, next patch of trek over rock fields and glacier. Top
of Shingo la prayer flags and mani stones are telling story of those people cross over years back. With impressive view back
to Zanskar side the valley we trek and summits rising above 6000m. of Great Himalayn range. We descend down on glacier and
snow paches. We cross Chumik Nakpo and finally arrive at the campsite of Ramjak, if we manage to go little further to Zanskar
Sumdo campsite will be ideal for our trekking mules.
Day 15: Ramjak or Zanskar Sumdo – Palamo 3650m, trek 4-5 hrs.
Drive to Darcha(3300m) Keylong (3100m) Manali
Today after Ramjak we descent to cross the bridge at Zanskar
Sumdo 3860m. We follow the right bank of river and enroute some tributary to cross. At Palamo our vehicle will be waiting
for us to drive back to Manali. At Darcha Sumdo there are numbers of small tea shops. After refreshing and checking in at
Darcha check point, we drive to Keylong, headquarter of Lahaul and Spiti. Enroute we pass Jispa and Gemur village. Traversing
through a magnificent valley of Lahaul we rejoin the Rohtang road and continue to Manali.
Day 16: Manali (1940m).
Visit local sight –seeing in around Manali.
Day 17: Manali – New Delhi.
Today afternoon at 16:30 drive back to New Delhi by night coach or fly to New Delhi in the morning before
Day 18: Arrive at New Delhi. Fly back home.
